Tosca Expands Asset IQ with Active and Passive Tracking Architecture

Tosca, an American global player in reusable packaging and pooling solutions, has expanded its Asset IQ traceability service by combining Active IoT-enabled tracking for high-value assets with Passive RFID and barcode technologies for high-volume operations. The program has been developed and refined over several years.

Eric Frank, CEO of Tosca, stated: “Tosca Asset IQ is the result of years of experience helping customers improve visibility and control across complex supply chains, […] Our dual active and passive architecture enables businesses to select the right level of traceability for their operations while maintaining a single view of their assets. The result is greater efficiency, improved decision-making and stronger supply chain performance.”

The expanded service features a dual traceability approach that has reportedly been developed to meet the different requirements of modern supply chains, delivering real-time visibility for high-value assets where precise location and condition monitoring are critical.

Asset IQ aims to go beyond asset tracking by enabling organizations to identify inefficiencies, reduce operational bottlenecks, optimize inventory levels and improve route planning. It also offers insights that could support sustainability objectives by helping organizations reduce unnecessary transport movements, minimize product and asset losses, improve asset utilization and support circular supply chain models.

Eric Frank followed up: “We see significant potential in hybrid active and passive solutions, particularly in highly automated supply chains, […] For example, an active-enabled pallet may transport multiple passive-tagged crates, allowing businesses to gain visibility at different levels of the supply chain while managing costs effectively. Bringing these technologies together through a unified dashboard can help customers make faster decisions and optimize operations on a larger scale”

The platform is also said to support initiatives such as monitoring reusable asset flows, improving distribution efficiency, enhancing store execution programs and increasing visibility within complex logistics networks.
