Klöckner Pentaplast Launches Expanded Polypropylene Pizza Packaging

Klöckner Pentaplast has expanded its foodservice packaging portfolio with kp Infinity Tavola, an expanded polypropylene pizza box designed to retain heat during takeaway and delivery.

The product is launching in the UK and selected European markets from September 2026. It targets quick-service restaurants, pizzerias and delivery-led brands seeking to maintain product temperature and presentation during transport.

According to kp, comparative testing showed pizzas remained up to 7.3°C hotter after five minutes than in traditional alternatives, with a temperature advantage still recorded after an hour.

The 12-inch pack consists of two identical interlocking parts that form a lidded box for delivery and takeaway. The parts can also be separated for dine-in service and presentation.

Kp said the expanded polypropylene structure does not absorb oil and helps contain grease and food residue. The company describes the packaging as recyclable within appropriate polypropylene collection and recycling streams.

“We spend a lot of time talking and collaborating with customers and stakeholders from across the industry. They tell us they’re being asked to do more than ever before. Operators are under pressure to deliver food quickly, maintain quality during transportation and create a better customer experience,” said Austin Schwarz, sales director, UK and Ireland, at kp.

Schwarz said early operator trials identified potential space and time savings, alongside improved heat retention during transportation.

The launch extends the company’s Infinity Hotpacs foodservice offering into pizza packaging. Larger orders can be customised with embossing.
