Germany’s Eutecma has acquired North American temperature-controlled packaging company Tempaid, combining larger-format pharmaceutical shipping systems with parcel and last-mile delivery packaging. Financial terms were not disclosed.
The acquisition brings together Eutecma’s reusable shipping systems and Tempaid’s thermal packaging portfolio, which includes SpeedyPac mailers, SteadyPac thermal shippers, gel packs and phase-change material mats.
Eutecma chief executive Kevin Grogan will lead the combined company. Healthcare investment firm Great Point Partners is supporting the business.
“Tempaid was founded to solve the toughest problems in the cold chain through innovation,” said Ryan Sanders, Tempaid’s founder.
The companies said the combined offering would cover reusable and single-use packaging, from individual mailers to bulk pallet shippers. Customers include pharmaceutical, diagnostic, life sciences and biotechnology businesses.
Tempaid has manufacturing operations across North America and Asia, while Eutecma is based in Mannheim, Germany. The acquisition broadens the group’s capabilities across different stages of pharmaceutical distribution, from bulk shipments to delivery to individual patients.
The companies said customers would continue to have access to both brands’ existing product and service portfolios.
