In a bid to push the boundaries of sustainable packaging, Mondi has unveiled FlexStudios, a 2,300 square meter co-creation hub in Steinfeld, Germany. This innovative facility, officially launched on November 12, 2024, is designed to foster collaboration between Mondi and its clients, allowing them to actively participate in the development of cutting-edge, flexible packaging solutions. FlexStudios is an integral part of Mondi’s MAP2030 sustainability strategy, which sets ambitious goals to make all products reusable, recyclable, or compostable by 2025.
FlexStudios is divided into three key sections, each geared toward a different stage of the innovation process. The ground floor, FlexStudios Innovate, houses a pilot line where packaging prototypes can be tested and refined, minimizing the time needed to bring new solutions to market. The first floor, FlexStudios Advance, features a state-of-the-art laboratory for rigorous testing and quality assurance, ensuring that sustainable packaging innovations can meet demanding regulatory and performance standards. The top floor, FlexStudios Inspire, offers an immersive, creative environment where clients and Mondi’s experts can engage in ideation sessions, further accelerating the packaging development process.
FlexStudios builds upon Mondi’s commitment to a circular economy, equipping it with capabilities such as film extrusion, coating, and printing lines that support both plastic and paper-based packaging development. By integrating these resources under one roof, Mondi can address complex client needs while keeping sustainability at the forefront, reflecting the industry-wide shift towards more responsible packaging solutions.
As global demand grows for sustainable packaging, Mondi’s new facility represents a significant step in the packaging industry’s evolution, promoting rapid, eco-friendly innovation with a focus on customer-driven solutions.
