Interpack Alliance Rebrands Shanghai Show as interpack China To Deepen Market Integration

Messe Düsseldorf has rebranded Shanghai World of Packaging (swop) as interpack China, marking the fair’s tenth year within the interpack alliance and signalling a strategic commitment to the Chinese market. The new identity was formally unveiled at the opening of this year’s edition at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC), where the organisers positioned the event as an increasingly central pillar of the international packaging trade fair network.

The transition to interpack China marks a structural repositioning intended to align the Shanghai event more closely with the global interpack brand. According to Messe Düsseldorf, the move reflects both the growing importance of China’s packaging sector and the intention to offer international exhibitors more direct access to one of the world’s fastest-expanding markets.

“The interpack alliance is synonymous with quality, reliability and strong partnerships across the globe. interpack China highlights this connection and instantly adds recognition value,” said Thomas Dohse, Director of interpack and interpack alliance. “As part of a global brand, interpack China brings together international and Chinese companies, granting exhibitors direct access to one of the most exciting and rapidly-growing packaging markets in the world.”

The brand evolution also reinforces the longstanding co-operation between Messe Düsseldorf (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. and Adsale Exhibition Services Ltd., which will continue to jointly organise interpack China. This year’s edition runs from 25 to 27 November 2025.

“This is more than just a new name. interpack China represents our even closer connection to the global packaging ecosystem and our aim to bring international perspectives to the Chinese market,” said Evian Gu, General Manager of Messe Düsseldorf Shanghai. She added that future editions will intensify collaboration with global partners to advance intelligent production, innovative materials and workforce development in China’s packaging industry.

Strategic Alignment With a Rapidly Growing Market

The organisers emphasise China’s central role in global processing and packaging supply chains. The country’s manufacturing scale and integrated industrial base are driving significant domestic demand for packaging materials, machinery, and automation solutions. Parallel to this, China’s emergence as a major consumer market—with continued growth in e-commerce and an expanding middle class—reinforces long-term demand for advanced, sustainable and intelligent packaging formats.

By becoming interpack China, the fair aims to position itself as a core hub for international–Chinese industry dialogue and technology transfer. The first edition under the new name is scheduled for 16–18 November 2026.
