Messe Düsseldorf has rebranded pacprocess MEA as interpack MEA, sharpening the event’s international positioning and reinforcing the organiser’s long-term commitment to the Middle East and Africa’s fast-growing processing and packaging markets. The move embeds the Cairo trade fair more firmly into the global interpack alliance and will continue to align it with Food Africa, with which it is co-located.
From 2026 onwards, the event will operate under its new name. According to Thomas Dohse, Director of interpack and the interpack alliance, “The new name positions the trade fair as the central hub for the processing and packaging industry in the Middle East and Africa. It reflects the dynamic development of the industry and firmly anchors the event in our global network.”
The rebranding was announced during the opening ceremony of this year’s pacprocess MEA and Food Africa at the Egypt International Exhibition Centre. The 2025 edition is fully booked, hosting more than 1,200 exhibitors from 45 countries, and benefits from strong institutional backing. Senior Egyptian government officials — including the Ministers of Industry, Investment and Foreign Trade, Supply and Internal Trade, and Agriculture and Land Reclamation — attended the opening.
Deepening Partnerships To Serve A Growth Market
interpack MEA is organised jointly by Messe Düsseldorf, IFP Group and Konzept. Both regional partners bring longstanding experience and market access that Messe Düsseldorf says will be instrumental in expanding the fair’s reach.
Tamer Safwat, Managing Director at Konzept, said, “Industry in Egypt and the entire MEA region is investing heavily in efficiency, automation and quality standards. With the new interpack MEA brand, we are creating a link between this growing demand and international solutions that will enable the next step in development.”
Albert Aoun, Chairman & CEO of IFP Group, added, “With interpack MEA, we offer companies in the region exactly the platform they need for their growth course. We support them in investing more quickly, tapping into new technologies and positioning themselves more successfully in the market.”
A Rapidly Expanding Regional Packaging Market
The Middle East and Africa remain among the world’s fastest-growing processing and packaging markets. The food packaging segment alone was valued at around USD 23 billion in 2024 and is projected to exceed USD 33 billion by 2032.
Egypt is emerging as a strategic anchor. The country is investing in new production zones, upgrading existing industrial assets and attracting international manufacturing capacity. With an anticipated market volume of roughly USD 4.9 billion in 2030, Egypt’s packaging sector is forecast to be one of the world’s fastest expanding.
Against this backdrop, Messe Düsseldorf expects the interpack brand to strengthen the event’s international pull and to support the region in converting its growth potential into realised projects, technology transfers and investment.
The first edition under the new name, interpack MEA, will take place from 7 to 10 December 2026.
