International Paper Completes USD360 Million Acquisition Of NORPAC

International Paper has completed its $360 million acquisition of North Pacific Paper Company (NORPAC), adding a major producer of lightweight recycled packaging papers to its North American operations and strengthening its presence on the US West Coast.

The transaction brings NORPAC’s Longview, Washington mill into International Paper’s packaging network. The facility employs approximately 500 people and operates three paper machines capable of producing around one million tons of paper annually. International Paper said the acquisition will enhance system flexibility, expand production capabilities and support growing demand for lightweight, high-performance recycled packaging papers.

NORPAC has been manufacturing recycled packaging papers for approximately 50 years and serves customers across the western United States. International Paper said the business is a strong strategic fit with its packaging portfolio and will help improve service to customers in the region.

“Today is an important milestone for the NORPAC team and for Longview as we officially become part of International Paper,” said Craig Anneberg, CEO of NORPAC. “I’m proud of our employees for what we’ve built here, and joining International Paper gives us the opportunity to build on that foundation. We’re committed to continuing our role as a strong employer and community partner in Longview.”

International Paper said the acquisition supports its ongoing strategic transformation and strengthens its ability to meet demand for lightweight, high-performance packaging grades while creating additional value for customers, employees and shareholders.

“We’re proud to welcome the NORPAC team to International Paper and look forward to what we will accomplish together,” said Tom Hamic, Executive Vice President and President, Packaging Solutions North America at International Paper. “NORPAC is a strong strategic fit for our business and expands our capabilities to support growing customer demand for lightweight high-performance packaging grades while improving service to our West Coast customers.”

The acquisition was first announced in April 2026. With the addition of NORPAC, International Paper expands its recycled containerboard production footprint in North America and reinforces its position in the fibre-based packaging market.
