Berlin Packaging Boosts Beauty‑Sector Footprint with Acquisition of Cosmei

Berlin Packaging, the world’s largest hybrid packaging supplier, has acquired Cosmei, a specialist Italian cosmetics-packaging provider. Founded by Michele Cicchetti and based in Bagnolo Cremasco—Italy’s Cosmetic Valley—Cosmei caters to indie, prestige and masstige beauty brands and maintains a sourcing office in Guangzhou, China.

The move forms part of Berlin Packaging’s ongoing commitment to the beauty sector. The company’s Global CEO Bill Hayes has previously stated that strategic purchases aim to “expand presence in Asia‑Pacific and strengthen beauty and cosmetic packaging offering”. Cosmei’s acquisition underscores that strategy, though financial terms were not disclosed.

This takeover marks the latest in a string of beauty-focused acquisitions. In December 2023, Berlin Packaging acquired Nest‑Filler PKG of South Korea—specializing in sustainable skincare and cosmetics packaging—aiming to enhance its Asia‑Pacific reach. Further back, in January 2022 the company secured Premi S.p.A. in Italy, noted for its turnkey beauty-packaging services and R&D prowess. It also brought Jansy, a U.S. based turnkey beauty packaging provider, into its fold in July 2022.

Beyond the beauty segment, Berlin Packaging has continued its global acquisition spree. In June 2025, it completed the purchase of Romanian glass-packaging firms Sarom Packaging and Romgallia, reinforcing its EMEA footprint, and previously inked a deal for Germany’s Rixius AG to expand its industrial packaging presence.

Analysis: With this latest deal, Berlin Packaging is doubling down on its hybrid model—blending glass, plastic, metal and design services—and delivering value-added innovation through Studio One Eleven and global R&D centres. Cosmei adds depth to its European beauty portfolio and strengthens its direct sourcing capability in China.
