Poly-clip System will use Fruit Logistica 2026 to unveil what it describes as a pioneering fully compostable net-packaging system, positioning the company among the technology suppliers responding to stricter material-reduction and recycling objectives under the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR).
The Germany-based manufacturer, known for its clip-closure systems, will present net-pak®, a complete packaging solution composed of certified compostable bio-nets, bio-clips and bio-labels. According to the company, the system provides fruit and vegetable packers with an alternative to conventional plastic net packaging without requiring significant modifications to existing operations.
A key component of the trade-fair presentation will be the Somi net clipper, developed in partnership with Spanish firm Damarc Agrobotic. The machine incorporates Poly-clip System’s new DC N3 600 clip head, which the company says is being deployed for the first time with 100% compostable clip packaging.
The introduction of net-pak® comes as suppliers and retailers across Europe accelerate the search for viable compostable or recyclable formats ahead of the PPWR’s forthcoming implementation. Poly-clip System emphasised that the technical compatibility of the new clip head enables manufacturers to transition to bio-compostable materials “without the need for major adjustments.”
The company, headquartered in Hattersheim am Main, has expanded over more than a century from a machine producer into a full packaging-system provider, supplying manual and automated clipping equipment alongside accessories.
“We see it as our mission to develop packaging technology that is innovative and meets the environmental requirements of tomorrow,” said Omar Olivas, Head of the net-pak® Business Unit at Poly-clip System. “Fruit Logistica is the ideal platform for us to present our unique net-pak® packaging concept to the industry and receive valuable feedback. In this way, the trade fair plays a key role in driving the advancement of sustainable packaging solutions in fresh produce logistics.”
Poly-clip System will exhibit at Fruit Logistica from 4 to 6 February 2026 in Berlin (Hall 2.1, Stand D-20).
