Interpack And PMMI Strengthen Transatlantic Packaging Industry Ties

Interpack and PMMI, The Association for Packaging and Processing Technologies, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding during interpack 2026, establishing a strategic partnership intended to strengthen links between the European and North American processing and packaging industries.

The agreement is designed to expand international engagement and create new opportunities for companies active in both markets. According to the announcement, it also supports interpack’s positioning as a global platform for North American companies seeking to develop international business.

A central part of the collaboration will be the creation of a North American Pavilion at interpack 2029. The pavilion will be organised and managed by PMMI and is intended to give North American exhibitors a unified presence and greater visibility at the Düsseldorf trade fair.

“For many years, PMMI and interpack have maintained a close and trusted dialogue that we highly value. This agreement is a natural next step to further develop that exchange and expand international connectivity for the benefit of our shared customers,” said Thomas Dohse, Director of interpack.

Jim Pittas, President and CEO of PMMI, said the association expected the initiative to support its member companies at the international event.

“PMMI is excited to have this opportunity to bring our members to this important industry event. We appreciate interpack’s willingness to work with PMMI to make this happen and expect this effort to be a major success for our members,” Pittas said.

PMMI represents more than 1,100 manufacturers and suppliers of equipment, components, materials and related services for the packaging and processing industry. The association also runs the PACK EXPO portfolio of trade shows, including PACK EXPO International, PACK EXPO Las Vegas, PACK EXPO East, PACK EXPO Southeast, EXPO PACK México and EXPO PACK Guadalajara.

Interpack is held every three years in Düsseldorf and covers packaging materials, packaging machinery and related process technology for sectors including food, beverage, confectionery, bakery, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, non-food and industrial goods.
