Ampack Develops Low-Foam Aseptic Filling Technology For Sensitive Liquid Applications

Ampack will use interpack 2026 to present a new dosing technology for aseptic bottle filling aimed at reducing foam formation in sensitive liquid food applications, as the Syntegon-owned company seeks to strengthen its position in hygienic filling systems.

The company said the technology will be shown at its own stand-alone booth for the first time at the Düsseldorf trade fair, where it will focus on a system designed for products such as clinical nutrition, baby food and drinkable meals. These applications are typically difficult to handle because heavy foaming during filling can affect dosing precision, process stability and overall line efficiency.

Ampack’s new solution addresses that issue through a dosing process in which the piston plunges fully into the bottle and guides the product along the inner wall through side openings. According to the company, this creates a gentler product flow, reduces foam formation and improves product protection during aseptic filling.

The company said the technology can deliver line speeds of up to 36,000 bottles per hour, depending on format.

“The response has been very positive – several customers are already using the new dosing unit in their daily production to their full satisfaction,” said Markus Schlumberger, Managing Director of Ampack.

The dosing system is part of Ampack’s FBL linear bottle filling machine, launched in 2024. The machine is designed for preformed HDPE, PP and PET bottles and is positioned for aseptic filling applications involving liquid foods that do not require refrigeration. Ampack said the platform is suited to products including baby food, clinical nutrition, drinkable meals and other specialist liquid products.

Alongside the new dosing technology, the company plans to show other filling-related systems at interpack, including dosing units for cup filling across hygiene levels from clean to aseptic, as well as a multi-sealing head.

Ampack is also using the exhibition to introduce a newly established after-sales service structure, with a service portfolio covering spare parts supply, maintenance, wear parts management and preventive maintenance. The company said the packages can be tailored to customer requirements and are intended to improve planning reliability while reducing downtime. It also offers maintenance support for complete filling lines.

“We consider ourselves a partner throughout the entire life cycle of the machine. We even go one step further to ensure the entire filling line runs smoothly,” said Joachim Riegg, Director of Service at Ampack.

The presentation suggests Ampack is trying to broaden its proposition beyond machine supply alone, combining equipment upgrades with lifecycle support as food and beverage manufacturers place greater emphasis on uptime, product integrity and service continuity.

At interpack, the company will be exhibiting in Hall 6, Booth B29 from May 7 to 13.
