Klöckner Pentaplast Unveils New Recyclable Barrier Films for Sustainable Food Packaging

Klöckner Pentaplast (KP), a leader in plastic packaging innovation, has launched two cutting-edge recyclable barrier films—KP FlexiFlow EH 155 R and KP FlexiFlow PH 255 R. These films mark a major advancement in sustainable food packaging, offering a reduction in packaging weight by up to 75% when compared to existing alternatives, without compromising on product protection or efficiency.

The KP FlexiFlow PH 255 R is made with over 93% polypropylene (PP), exceeding current recycling guidelines, while the KP FlexiFlow EH 155 R, made from polyethylene (PE), boasts more than 95% PE content. These high recyclability rates set new standards in the industry and address the growing demands for sustainable packaging solutions.

Both films feature enhanced aesthetics and antifog properties, making them ideal for a variety of food packaging applications, including fresh meat, cheese, processed foods, and produce. Furthermore, KP FlexiFlow PH 255 R can be integrated seamlessly into high-speed production lines, achieving packaging speeds of up to 120 packs per minute, ensuring that food manufacturers can maintain efficiency while meeting sustainability goals.

Francisco Quesada, KP’s senior commercial and marketing director for flexibles, said: “By designing our products with sustainability at the heart, we help food manufacturers to meet increasing consumer and regulatory demands without compromising on quality or efficiency. Our expertise at KP is the reason we’re able to do this so effectively.”

This development highlights KP’s ongoing commitment to not only meet current standards but also anticipate future needs, providing a solution that aligns with both environmental goals and industry requirements.
