German film manufacturer SÜDPACK has brought together its recyclable Pure-Line pouch films under the CarbonLite® brand, positioning them as a new generation of sustainable packaging solutions for the snack sector.
Made from polypropylene (PP) and polyethylene (PE) mono-materials, the CarbonLite® range is designed as an alternative to non-recyclable composites and aluminium-based films. According to SÜDPACK, the films combine product protection, resource efficiency and recyclability, while being suitable for formats such as flowpacks, doypacks and block-bottom pouches.
The company highlights the materials’ barrier properties against oxygen, water vapour and UV light, which are critical to maintaining shelf life and flavour for products including nuts, dried fruits and bakery items. SÜDPACK notes that the films are compatible with standard packaging machinery and offer sealing performance for reclose systems, with PP and PE zipper options available to support mono-material recycling.
SÜDPACK said that CarbonLite® films are aluminium-free, highly recyclable and aligned with the requirements of the forthcoming EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR). A Pure PP flowpack from the range has achieved a 92% recycling rate, certified by cyclos-HTP.
The company also pointed to its SPQ printing technology, which it said lowers ink and solvent use while improving colour quality, and to its life cycle assessment (LCA) service, which evaluates the environmental impact of packaging concepts across the value chain.
