Toyo Ink Europe Unveils Steraflex GIO UV for High-Compliance Label Printing

Toyo Ink Europe, part of Japan’s artience Group (formerly Toyo Ink Group), has expanded its flexographic printing ink range with the introduction of Steraflex GIO UV. The new ink system is designed to deliver strong print and press performance across a wide range of label substrates and sleeves, with a focus on migration safety for sensitive applications.

Steraflex GIO meets EuPIA, Swiss Ordinance, the latest ECHA SVHC list, and other European regulatory requirements, including the German Ink Ordinance, positioning it as a high-compliance solution for converters and brand owners.

Formulated with a next-generation binder system, the ink achieves improved adhesion on both standard films and low-surface-tension materials such as BOPP. The enhanced bond strength offers greater versatility in materials selection without compromising print quality or regulatory compliance.

“With increasing regulatory scrutiny on food packaging inks, compliance and transparency are more important than ever,” said Ismail Yilmaz, general manager, sales and corporate strategy at Toyo Ink Europe. “Steraflex GIO is free from intentionally added photoinitiator 379, ensuring it aligns with the current and upcoming requirements under the German Ink Ordinance. This gives printers and brand owners peace of mind when producing packaging for more sensitive applications, particularly in the food and pharmaceutical sector.”

The product will be showcased at Labelexpo Europe 2025, held in Barcelona from 16–19 September, at the Toyo Ink Europe (artience Group) stand in Hall 3, Stand A32. The company will also present an updated portfolio of LED, UV and electron beam-curable products, developed to reduce environmental impact and health risks while maintaining high print performance.
