European packaging alliance PackSynergy has announced its expansion into Ukraine through a new partnership with Modern Pack, a subsidiary of the Ukrainian Green Packaging Solutions (UGPS) group. The move marks the network’s first presence in Ukraine and underscores its ongoing strategy to establish a foothold in every European country.
Modern Pack officially joined the PackSynergy network in April 2025. Based in Ukraine and operating its own production facilities, the family-owned company offers environmentally conscious and technically advanced packaging solutions for a wide range of industries, including both food and non-food sectors.
“With the addition of Modern Pack, we are tapping into a market segment from which we expect exciting developments,” said Thomas A. Baur, CEO of PackSynergy. “This opens up access to new procurement sources for our partners and provides a distribution network for our group suppliers. Modern Pack will benefit from the group’s expertise and gain access to Western markets. We look forward to working with the Modern Pack team.”
Founded in 2018, parent company UGPS unites several packaging specialists and has quickly positioned itself as a regional leader in sustainable production. The group emphasizes innovation, trend awareness, and customer-specific development — offering tailor-made solutions that combine quality and flexibility. According to Chairman Andrii Kovbuz, joining the PackSynergy network is a strategic step to align more closely with European packaging developments.
“By joining PackSynergy, we gain the opportunity to stay at the forefront of European packaging trends and share these insights directly with our customers,” Kovbuz said. “We look forward to close collaboration within the network to continuously expand our portfolio and drive innovation in the packaging sector.”
For PackSynergy, the partnership with Modern Pack strengthens its Europe-wide presence and reinforces its competitive edge as a network brand for medium-sized, owner-managed packaging distributors. The alliance currently offers its members access to an international supplier portfolio, collective procurement benefits, and shared knowledge across borders.
“Especially in today’s economically challenging times, networks are showing their real strengths,” Baur noted. “In an era where exchange, strategic cooperation, and joint value creation are gaining increasing importance, our model hits the mark.”
The organisation maintains a deliberate growth strategy focused on quality over scale, aiming to ensure that new members reflect the alliance’s values. “We ensure that new members bring the right mindset and that the spirit of cooperation is embedded in their corporate strategy. This creates the foundation for meaningful collaboration,” Baur added.
With growing consolidation in the European packaging market, the PackSynergy model offers an alternative built on shared innovation, local responsiveness, and cross-border cooperation.
