Schubert to Showcase AI-Powered Pick-and-Place Cobot in Trade Fair Debut

German packaging automation specialist Gerhard Schubert GmbH will mark its first appearance at Automatica in Munich this June with the launch of the tog.519, a fully integrated autonomous cobot designed to redefine pick-and-place operations across multiple sectors.

Presented as part of Schubert’s stand at Automatica 2025 (24–27 June, Hall B5, Stand 530), the tog.519 cobot will be showcased in live demonstrations handling both food and cosmetics applications. Developed entirely in-house at Schubert’s Crailsheim facility, the tog.519 combines advanced vision technology with proprietary five-axis SCARA kinematics, achieving performance levels previously unattainable in its class.

With speeds of up to 90 cycles per minute, the system is billed as the fastest cobot for pick-and-place tasks currently on the market. “It gives the cobot great flexibility and mobility,” said Hannes Häusler, Head of the Cobot Division at Schubert. “The camera system and robot were both developed in-house and they work together seamlessly. This integration makes our solution truly unique on the market.”

The cobot is equipped with an AI-supported vision system that allows it to identify, sort and position a wide variety of products — even from a disorganised pile. This eliminates the need for traditional algorithm-based programming and enables operation without deep IT expertise. During the fair, attendees will witness the system handling a mix of items, from apple chip bags and pump dispensers to empty cosmetics bottles, which it positions into pucks with precision.

In addition to live demos, visitors can test the system’s capabilities at a dedicated vision station by placing their own items — including bars, pouches and lids — under the camera to observe object recognition in action.

According to Häusler, the tog.519 offers compelling flexibility for co-packers and manufacturers with diverse product portfolios: “Baked goods, confectionery, cosmetics or pet food – the range of possible applications for the cobot is virtually limitless.”

The introduction of the tog.519 at Automatica signals Schubert’s growing ambitions in the field of smart robotics and underlines its strategy to develop fully integrated solutions that enhance operational efficiency while meeting stringent food safety and hygiene standards.
