Tosca, the global provider of reusable and recyclable plastic packaging and pooling solutions, is extending the rollout of its UDP half pallet across Europe, following strong adoption in the UK’s beverage retail sector.
The UDP (Universal Display Platform) has proven its value as a retail-ready solution that enhances in-store efficiency and sales performance. Designed for the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) sector, the reusable half pallet combines operational durability with an ergonomic, lightweight design, supporting faster product movement through the supply chain.
With a footprint of 800 × 600 mm and a load capacity of up to 500 kg, the UDP half pallet simplifies logistics from factory to shop floor. Its compact form factor reduces transport and storage costs, while integrated pop-up locators stabilise trays and reduce product damage, keeping displays neat and uniform.
Laurent Le Mercier, EMEA President at Tosca, highlighted its retail impact: “The UDP half pallet is more than a logistics tool – it is a proven driver of revenue. By moving directly from production to the shop floor without the need for unpacking or handling, it allows retailers to launch promotions faster, optimise every square metre of selling space, and generate additional sales even when shelf space is at capacity.”
The concept has already transformed beverage merchandising in the UK, where the UDP half pallet has been adopted by all six major retailers and over 150 FMCG companies. Often used alongside Tosca’s one- and two-litre beverage trays, the platform enables quick, tidy and premium-looking displays that cut labour costs and improve customer accessibility.
As European retailers increasingly seek circular and space-efficient merchandising solutions, Tosca’s half pallet offers both environmental and economic benefits. Independent analysis indicates that compared to single-use displays, each reusable UDP half pallet can cut emissions by between 400 and 600 kilograms of CO₂ equivalent over its lifecycle.
Fully reusable, recyclable and made from recycled materials, the UDP is designed to meet growing regulatory demands under the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) and Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) frameworks.
According to Tosca, the platform’s expansion across Europe marks a step forward in the transition to circular retail operations. The company positions the UDP half pallet as a “fit-for-purpose, future-proof solution” that aligns operational efficiency with sustainability while creating measurable in-store value.
