GB: Lidl Drops ‘Use by’ Dates on Own Brand Dairy Packaging

Lidl GB is scrapping ‘Use By’ dates across its key dairy lines and replacing them with ‘Best Before’ dates as it looks to help customers reduce food waste at home. Tetra Pak and Lactogal Launch Aseptic Beverage Carton With Paper-based Barrier

Following successful commercial consumer testing in 2022, Tetra Pak and Lactogal have now launched an aseptic beverage carton featuring a paper-based barrier. This is part of a large-scale technology validation, involving around 25 million packages and currently ongoing in Portugal. Made of approximately 80% paperboard, the package increases the renewable content to 90%.

Mondi and Skånemejerier Team-up to Develop Mono-material Plastic Packaging

Mondi has collaborated with Swedish dairy producer Skånemejerier to create a mono-material, polypropylene (PP) based packaging for Hushållsost cheese. The new packaging has a mono-material base web and lidding film which is produced and printed by Mondi before being converted for 1kg and 2kg blocks of cheese by Skånemejerier.

Valio to Reduce the Amount of Plastic in Its Single-serving Packaging

Omnia Opens New Packaging Plant in Ontario

Omnia Packaging Inc., the Canadian subsidiary of Italian company Gruppo Sunino, has opened a new production facility in Guelph, Ontario. Omnia received USD3.7m in funding from the Government of Canada through the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario to help pay for new equipment at the site to manufacture both recyclable plastic and paper trays for the food packaging market.
