Fortress Technology Unveils Space-Saving Multi-Aperture Metal Detectors for Multi-Lane Food Lines

Fortress Technology has launched a new line of “space-saving multi-aperture, multi-lane metal detectors” designed to streamline food production operations while supporting sustainable growth. Engineered to “optimise performance and TCO on all food production lines,” the solution consolidates a single metal detector across multiple conveyor lanes without compromising detection sensitivity.

Rather than installing multiple individual detectors, the multi-aperture system features “individual, smaller apertures for each conveyor lane,” enabling precise inspection while significantly reducing footprint and cost.

Available in 2, 3, 4 and 5 lane configurations, the Fortress unit can “reduce an equipment footprint by over 50%,” while “initial investment costs can be reduced by up to 40% compared to purchasing individual metal detectors.”

The system also delivers operational efficiencies. “With just one metal detection system to maintain and manage, processors experience less operational expenses,” the company notes, attributing savings to “reduced maintenance and parts required.”

Each multi-aperture system is equipped to “single out and reject metal contaminated products independently on each line.” A single HMI panel manages and collates “all data across all lanes,” contributing to “considerable waste savings.”

Designed to handle “up to 200ppm per line,” the system can also be integrated with a Fortress Technology checkweigher, enabling processors to “segregate weight and contaminant rejects.”
