New CPG NexGen Awards To Honor Future Leaders Of Packaging And Processing

PMMI, producer of PACK EXPO and the trade association representing packaging and processing technologies, has launched a new industry recognition program aimed at highlighting the next generation of professionals shaping the consumer packaged goods (CPG) sector.

The newly established CPG NexGen Awards will recognize 10 professionals aged 35 and under who work at CPG or end-user companies and have demonstrated leadership, innovation, operational excellence, and problem-solving capabilities within packaging and processing operations.

Nominations are open through July 17, 2026, with candidates eligible for nomination by managers, colleagues, mentors, suppliers, customers, and other industry stakeholders.

“The packaging and processing industry is being transformed by a new generation of talented professionals bringing fresh ideas, technical expertise, and leadership to the table,” said Jim Pittas, president and chief executive officer of PMMI. “The CPG NexGen Awards were created to celebrate these rising stars and recognize the incredible impact they’re already making across the industry.”

According to PMMI, the initiative forms part of its broader efforts to support workforce development and strengthen engagement across the packaging and processing sectors. The association said the awards are intended not only to recognize individual achievement but also to highlight companies that invest in developing future industry leaders.

The 10 selected recipients will receive a hosted experience at PACK EXPO International 2026, scheduled to take place in Chicago from October 18–21. The package includes complimentary event registration, round-trip airfare, hotel accommodation, access to networking events, recognition during the exhibition, and a ticket to the PACK gives BACK™ industry event.

“Companies across the CPG industry are focused on attracting, developing, and retaining top talent, and the CPG NexGen Awards provide an opportunity to recognize the rising professionals helping drive that future forward,” Pittas said. “These awards shine a spotlight not only on emerging leaders, but also on the organizations fostering innovation, collaboration, and the next generation of industry excellence.”

The launch comes as PACK EXPO International prepares for its 2026 edition, which PMMI expects will feature approximately 2,600 exhibitors across 1.3 million net square feet of exhibition space. The event is projected to attract around 48,000 attendees representing more than 40 vertical markets, providing a platform for machinery demonstrations, technology launches, and industry networking.

By introducing the CPG NexGen Awards, PMMI is placing a spotlight on workforce development at a time when manufacturers across the packaging and processing industries continue to focus on attracting and retaining skilled talent capable of driving innovation and operational performance.

Nominations for the inaugural awards program can be submitted through the PACK EXPO International website until July 17, 2026.
