Swedish packaging multinational Tetra Pak has completed a major expansion of its aseptic packaging facility in Ho Chi Minh City, bringing its total investment in the site to EUR217 million.
The latest EUR97 million investment adds advanced production technologies and increases the plant’s annual output capacity to over 30 billion cartons, spanning 15 new packaging formats. More than half of this output is destined for Vietnam’s fast-growing food and beverage sector, with the remainder exported to key regional markets including Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, the Philippines, Australia, and New Zealand.
“This investment underscores our long-term commitment to Vietnam and the broader Asia-Pacific region through innovation and sustainable production,” said Tetra Pak Global CEO Adolfo Orive at the inauguration ceremony on 3 July.
Located in Binh Duong province’s VSIP II-A Industrial Park, the facility currently employs over 350 people and is among the first in Vietnam to achieve LEED Version 4 Gold certification for green building standards.
Vietnamese government officials described the expansion as a testament to strong collaboration between international investors and the country’s development agenda, highlighting it as a symbol of deepening Vietnam-Sweden ties in science and technology.
Tetra Pak’s increased capacity comes as demand for aseptic packaging grows across Southeast Asia and Oceania, driven by consumer preferences for convenience, food safety, and sustainable packaging solutions.
