The Best Packaging 2025 Awards, Italy’s premier packaging competition, will once again take centre stage at IPACK-IMA, the leading cross-sector trade show for processing and packaging technologies, held at Fiera Milano from May 27–30, 2025. The award ceremony is scheduled for May 28, recognising “the smartest, most sustainable solutions” in Italian packaging.
Promoted by the Italian Packaging Institute, the Best Packaging Awards have, for more than six decades, “been honouring pioneering offerings in packaging, packaging design, and innovative materials”, shaping the industrial culture that supports the global success of Italian-made packaging.
The 2025 edition celebrates packaging solutions that reflect the current evolution of the sector. Finalists were selected based on “three main criteria: sustainability, technology, and experience”, which organisers describe as the cornerstones of a “changing ecosystem across all markets, from food and beverages to cosmetics, beauty, and personal care, as well as chemicals and pharmaceuticals.”
Francesco Legrenzi, Director of the Italian Packaging Institute, emphasised the strategic importance of IPACK-IMA:
“A leading event for the packaging industry, IPACK-IMA is a cross-technology, multi-market platform that offers a detailed overview of the industry and the degree of innovation—showcasing technical solutions, digitalisation projects, and innovative new materials and their applications for sustainability.”
He added:
“The highpoint of our participation in IPACK-IMA, these awards are both an occasion to recognise companies’ commitment and an opportunity to reinforce the network of relationships that makes the Italian Packaging Institute a living organism within the industrial and innovation ecosystem of packaging.”
This year’s competition reflects rising trends such as “using less to produce more, enhancing the functions and ergonomics of packaging, and increasing scalability and adaptability.” The initiative provides “an up-to-date snapshot of a constantly changing market which combines creativity, technology, and sustainability.”
Valerio Soli, Chair of Ipack Ima Srl, highlighted the alignment between the exhibition and the awards programme:
