Sidel Introduces Nitro Square Bottle Design For Nitrogen-Dosed Water

Sidel has unveiled Nitro Square, a new square-shaped bottle concept designed for still water with liquid nitrogen dosing. The launch represents a notable shift in the category, which has traditionally been dominated by cylindrical packaging formats.

“The nitrogen-dosed water bottle market is largely dominated by cylindrical forms, as this is the natural shape created by the internal pressure of the bottle’s contents,” said Xavier Monnier, Packaging Innovation Polymer Expert at Sidel. “Nitro Square allows manufacturers to elevate their brands with a unique square design that stands out on the shelf, secures its shape and performance across the supply chain and is valid for rPET.”

Distinctive Design And Robust Performance

The Nitro Square bottle combines aesthetic appeal with structural functionality, balancing rigid areas with flexible, pressure-absorbing zones to maintain its shape under the internal pressure of nitrogen dosing. This approach enables the square profile to remain stable throughout production, filling, transport, and retail display.

The design also integrates Sidel’s patented wave-shaped StarLITE®-R Nitro base, engineered to enhance drop resistance, ensure stability, and reinforce visual identity. The overall structure is easily adaptable for brands targeting different market segments, from premium to mainstream or value offerings.

Available in single-serve and multi-serve formats, Nitro Square is compatible with Sidel’s Universal, Series 2, and EvoBLOW platforms, supporting production speeds of up to 2,600 bottles per hour per mould.

By introducing a novel geometric form to a technically demanding segment, Sidel aims to provide beverage producers with new opportunities to differentiate their packaging while ensuring high line efficiency and recyclability in rPET.
